(MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW) E.L ft Nova Blaq – Frodo Baggins

Ghanaian rapper, singer and producer E.L has a track record of delivering amazing visuals for his songs, a case in point is the video for his debut single “Obuu mo”, which made use of a Bentley as a taxi. Continuing with that track record is the video for his latest single “Frodo Baggins”, off his BAR 6 project released on November 3, 2021, which features American based Ghanaian rapper Nova Blaq.

Once again collaborating with producer Pee GH, the drill inspired song makes reference to one of the prominent Hobbits in “The Lord of the Rings” movie, Frodo Baggins, and sees E.L take us through his illustrious 10 year music career. He highlights aspects of his relationships, businesses and personal life with assistance from Nova Blaq who on the second verse, feeds off E.L’s energy to envision what his life amd music career would look like years from now. One would think the music video wasn’t shot in Ghana upon first glance, but it was actually shot by Ghanaian director Kwame Black here in Accra-Ghana at a location on the Spintex road. Shot entirely at an indoor studio, the production included a lot of props, with E.L at a point rapping his verse atop a 90’s outdoor boom box setup, and Nova Blaq also performing against a mimicked turbulent weather situation. The silhouette scenes and brightly-lit scenes perfectly woven together with the layered costuming gave off the Hip-hop essence.

The video is up on YouTube for streaming via the link below, as well as the entire BAR 6 project.
