Ivory Osidan Debuts with ‘IT’S OKAY TO TRY’ EP Tugged at Her Heartstrings
Fast rising Ghanaian Rap artiste, Ivory Osidan has finally released her debut project, “It’s Okay To Try” on all digital streaming platforms worldwide. Ivory Osidan’s “It’s Okay To Try,” cuts deep into the soul as she expertly combines Afropop and Rap on five well-written tracks to highlight the five “C” themes of connection, confusion, curiosity, courage, and creativity.
The opening song – a perfect celebration of quality time, sees Ivory Osidan tunefully sing about intimacy, chemistry and connection between two lovers. “Body,” highlights the connection theme and features production by the talented Paa Bright. It highlights the special link that develops between intimate partners. It’s about those times when being close feels really important and charged. With increasing intensity, this “Feeling” develops into the second topic of confusion and explores the state of ambiguity that occurs between friendship and the desire for something more. It captures the difficulty of having a crush and wondering if the person is only being nice or feels same about you. Ivory Osidan masterfully conveys the wonder and uncertainty that come with dealing with challenging emotions while captivating the audience with her distinct rapping style. About halfway through the journey, curiosity shows up with afro-fusion vocals. The song “What If” by Ivory Osidan showcases her versatility as the degree of uncertainty rises. In the Carl Donkor-produced song “Better Days,” rising singer Sofie appears. The theme of the song changes to courage, and it takes on a more cheerful and energetic feel. Even in the wake of loss, Sofie’s moving hook serves as a reminder that there is hope for healing and a fresh start. Finishing off with a focus on personal development is track five, “Just Myself.” It focuses on the journey of becoming the best version of oneself. The whole record reads like a letter to oneself and remaining faithful to your goals and aspirations. Ivory Osidan’s two-year grind in the rough, has refined her craft into a fine diamond with “It’s Okay To Try” as her first-ever project being a testament to that fact.
She delights the listener with pleasant flowing melodies throughout the entire EP, showcasing
her ingenuity. With this premiere project, Ivory Osidan says she wants her listeners to try new things,
whether it’s completing a creative project, acquiring a new skill, or finally reaching out to a crush.
“It’s Okay To Try” is more than just a try from her, it’s a statement and a welcome to her world. All the songs were mixed by Ivan Molho, with the exception of track five, mixed by TwistedWavex. All five songs were mastered by Matias Parisi.
