(MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW) Akwaboah ft Cina Soul – Obiaa

Akwaboah and director Gene Adu, take us on a trip into their fantasy world in the video for his single titled “Obiaa”.
The video, premiered on 9th January, 2022, made heavy use of green screen technology as well as CGI graphics. From the onset, it is clear you are being taken on a journey to an alternate universe, but still given hints of earthly bodies like the ocean, sun, moon and fields. The fiery colored, at the same time dark visuals goes perfectly well with the excellent costuming and instrumentation of African percussions, drums, keytar synthesizer, and horns.
The song in itself is a duet performed by Akwaboah, who is on a quest to find his one and only true love, in the person of his fellow performer, Cina Soul. Trading verses back and forth with their rich and sultry voices, the two performers deliver nothing short of a love song meant to stand the test of time.
“Obiaa” comes as the third official single off the Ghanaian singer, songwriter and producer’s “Lighthouse” EP, which came out on December 5th, 2021.
