“We should tap into the ‘Nigerian sound’ rather than compete.” – Kelvyn Boy.
Still on media rounds for his number 1 song on Ghanaian Apple Music currently, “Down Flat,” Kelvyn Boy paid a visit to the Daybreak Hitz show on Hitz fm last week and made those remarks from the outset.
When the host Andy Dosty asked why he’s never joined the bandwagon to boycott Nigeria music, the Afrobeats singer opined that, the Nigerian counterparts are doing something that is obviously working out for them, so it’s only right he and his Ghanaian colleagues take a few notes. Rightly so, this has paid off in his latest single which is now charting in and outside Ghana across several platforms.
Adopting culture and formula isn’t a new thing, being smart about it is where all the effort lies.
