As an American athlete of Ghanaian descent, Jeremiah’s connection to Africa runs deep. His latest collaboration with PayAngel, a Ghanaian startup providing seamless financial solutions, shows his passion for empowering African communities. This partnership is centered on connecting the African diaspora with their roots by offering fast, secure, and reliable payment services to support families, businesses, and investments across the continent.

“The collaboration with PayAngel is a deeply personal one for me because it originated from the alignment of our mission,” Owusu-Koramoah shared. “That same mission of connecting African diaspora communities back to their roots.”

In an exclusive interview, Owusu-Koramoah delves into his collaboration with PayAngel, his work with renowned fashion designer La Falaise Dion, and the importance of using fashion, film, and finance as storytelling mediums. By wearing outfits that reflect Africa’s diverse cultures and partnering with artisans from countries like Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, Owusu-Koramoah hopes to amplify the continent’s cultural heritage on a global stage.

He adds, “Fashion especially on this project is much more than what we wear. It’s about the weavings and connections across time and geography. Through this project, we’re reclaiming that history, and I want the world to see the richness of African culture.”

According to Vanessa Kuhlor, the head of Investor Relations, the campaign also focuses on how the blend of tradition and technology can empower Africa’s younger generation. By reducing financial barriers and supporting African artisans, they are uplifting communities and showcasing the craftsmanship that represents the backbone of African culture.

“The most fulfilling aspect of this collaboration has been the feeling of reconnection.,” Owusu-Koramoah continued. “As someone who exists between two worlds, the African and American, this project gave me a chance to really harmonize these two identities in a way that felt deeply personal.”

Through this initiative, Owusu-Koramoah continues to break boundaries, not only as a star athlete but as a cultural ambassador for Africa. He hopes this collaboration will encourage more athletes of African descent to embrace their heritage and use their platforms to promote positive change.
