Mide Ajayi Announces the Return of A&R Listening Room 2026, Expanding Its Mission to Develop the Next Generation of AfricanMusic Talent

Music executive, talent manager, and artist development advocate Mide Ajayi has officially announced the return of A&R Listening Room, one of Nigeria’s emerging music platforms dedicated to discovering, educating, and empowering the next generation of African music talent.
Following a successful debut that attracted over 400 artist registrations and brought together respected A&Rs, producers, executives, and music professionals, A&R Listening Room is set to return in 2026 with a bigger vision and a renewed commitment to artist development.
Unlike traditional talent showcases, A&R Listening Room was created to bridge the gap between emerging artists and the music industry by providing access to knowledge, mentorship, networking, collaboration, and honest professional feedback. The platform is built on the belief that talent alone is not enough; artists also need education, guidance, and meaningful opportunities to build sustainable careers.

For 2026, A&R Listening Room will expand into a structured three-week Artist Development Camp designed to support artists while also developing the next generation of music professionals behind the scenes. The programme will begin with a three-day A&R Development Academy, created for aspiring
A&Rs and young creatives interested in artist development, talent discovery, music business, and the wider music industry. Participants will receive practical education from experienced industry professionals and gain an opportunity to develop the skills required to identify, evaluate, and support emerging talent.
Following the academy, selected artists will enter the three-week Artist Development Camp. The artists will be divided into creative groups and paired with A&Rs, producers, songwriters, and other creative professionals. Working collaboratively, each group will develop new music, explore different creative directions, refine their sound, and receive continuous feedback throughout the programme.
The camp will also feature a series of educational and industry sessions covering areas such as A&R and artist development, music business, branding, public relations, marketing, music distribution, songwriting, production, visual storytelling, artist management, and career development. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with music executives, A&Rs, producers, songwriters, managers, publicists, video directors, distributors, and other key professionals across the creative industry.
The programme will culminate in a major A&R Listening Room Showcase, bringing together industry executives, artists, media, partners, and invited guests for a day of live performances, listening sessions, panel discussions, mentorship conversations, and the presentation of music created during the camp.

The final showcase will provide artists with an opportunity to present their work to key decision-makers while creating a platform for meaningful connections, partnerships, distribution opportunities, media exposure, and further career development.
Reflecting on the vision behind the initiative, Mide Ajayi said: “Africa is full of incredible talent, but many artists never get access to the right rooms, the right information, or the right people. A&R Listening Room exists to change that. We are building a platform where artists can be heard, challenged, inspired, and equipped with the knowledge and relationships they need to grow. Our goal is not just to discover talent, but to help develop careers that can stand the test of time.”

The first edition demonstrated the demand for such a platform, creating meaningful conversations between artists and industry leaders while giving selected artists the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on their music. Following the event, several promising artists were invited to exclusive creative sessions, reinforcing A&R Listening Room’s commitment to supporting talent beyond a single event.
With its expanded structure for 2026, the platform aims to create a complete development ecosystem that supports artists from discovery and education to collaboration, industry engagement, and showcase opportunities. As preparations continue, A&R Listening Room is inviting strategic partners, sponsors, music
companies, media organisations, and cultural institutions committed to supporting Africa’s creative economy to join the initiative.
For Mide Ajayi, the long-term vision extends beyond a single annual event. A&R Listening Room aims to become a leading platform for artist development across Africa; one that not only discovers artists but also develops A&Rs, educates young creatives, encourages collaboration, and helps build the infrastructure needed to support the next generation of African music.
With artist applications, speaker announcements, and partnership unveilings set to begin soon, A&R Listening Room 2026 promises to be more than an event. It is a platform designed to inform, inspire, discover, and develop the next generation of African music talent.
