Amaarae during the past week, secured 3 Billboard advertisements in New York’s iconic times square, which is one of the most visited and busiest places in the world. This feat sees the Ghanaian singer, songwriter, producer and engineer, cement her legacy as one of today’s most essential artists. One of the billboards was for Spotify’s “EQUAL Artist of the Month,” which is part of the streaming giant’s efforts to foster equity for women in music globally. Amaarae joins the impressive lineup which has had American rapper Saweetie and Ghana’s very own Gyakie as alumni.

Another was for Amazon Music’s “Artists To Watch 2022,” which announces the talent on the rise to receive support from the streaming company.

The third one is for Pandora’s “Artists To Watch 2022: The Ten,” a list carefully curated from human sights and data analytics based on human listening behaviour, of the artists tipped to breakout globally. This list in the past has picked such diverse and successful artists like Post Malone in 2016, Dua Lipa in 2017, and Roddy Ricch in 2020.

All this is evidence of the impressive run Amaarae had coming out of 2021, with the remix of her smash single SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY ft American singer-songwriter Kali Uchis and Ghanaian-American singer Moliy amassing over 130 million plays on Spotify alone. The singer is obviously poised to have a big 2022 and we are here for it.
